In early years it is very important to develop children’s physical skills and their fine motor movements. This is because fine motor skills help children when they come to write. Our finger gym activities help children to build up the muscles in their hands that they need to be able to write and form letters. This week’s finger gym has a maths focus and children have to pick a numbered flowerpot and put that many pegs on to it.
Here is Leah who sat and put the correct number of pegs on to the flowerpot.
Not only are we building up our hand strength but Leah is learning to recognize the numbers and then place the corresponding number of pegs on to the pot! Wow! Brilliant learning Leah. Leah said “I’m at the top of the learning line, I can do it!”
